Iranian Democracy Front (IDF)

Since the creation of the Islamic republic in 1979, the regime has caused numerous problems for the people of Iran and other countries. The regime has brutally violated the human rights of the Iranians people, and the leaders of the regime have been involved in many terrorist activities around the world. The Islamic republic is a menace to Iranians and the world, and the only viable option to resolve the problems that have been caused by the Islamic republic is to support the movement of the Iranian people to replace the regime with a responsible democratic government that respects human rights and does not engage in terrorist activities.

As the massive protests in Tehran and other cities in recent years proved, millions of Iranians oppose the Islamic republic and its leaders. Despite the regime’s brutal campaign against pro-democracy activists, many Iranians inside and outside Iran continue the effort to bring freedom and democracy to Iran. Just as dozens of other countries have transitioned to democracy in the past twenty years, Iranians can replace the Islamic republic with a democratic government, and the process will be much faster with active international support. A democratic Iran will be an important factor in peace and security of the region and the world.

The members of the Iranian Democracy Front believe that the Iranian Tricolor Lion and Sun flag is the symbol of Iranian unity, and their objective is to liberate Iran and establish democracy. The members of the IDF share the following common beliefs:

1. The Islamic republic cannot be reformed, and the only viable option for restoring sovereignty to the people, is for the Iranian people to eliminate the criminal regime.

2. Territorial integrity of Iran.

3. Separation of religion and state.

4. The form of government will be decided by the Iranian people in a free referendum, after the Islamic republic is eliminated.

5. Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The Iranian Democracy Front does not have a single political view, and all members are equal and they maintain their organizational independence and specific political views, but they will seek unity in action.
The members of IDF have a tremendous amount of experience in political activities, and they are distinguished professionals with a wide range of experiences, including:

engineers, doctors, university professors, entrepreneurs, scholars, economists sociologists, political analysts, security and military officials. They have prepared plans for advancement of the pro-democracy movement, and plans for the transition period after the elimination of the Islamic republic.

As the massive protests in Tehran and other cities in 2009 and 2011 proved, millions of Iranians oppose the Islamic republic and its leaders. IDF does not seek financial support from governments.

However, we hope that democratic countries will provide moral, political and technological support to the people of Iran and their movement for freedom and democracy. A democratic Iran will be an important factor in peace and security of the region and the world.
