Shirin Ebadi commiting self-censorship - hypocracy?

Postby alimostofi » Sun May 01, 2005 1:19 pm

How can one possibly defend freedom of the press and Human Rights, and then apologise for failure. In winning the Nobel Prize Shirin Ebadi was given the blessing of the world, to make a conscious effort to resist dogma. For a moment I thought maybe she is the new "Mahatma Gandhi" of Iran. But instead she has managed to reconcile and submit to dogma when she says:

".... journalists are often compelled to commit self-censorship when it comes to disseminating information and/or expressing views.".. :-?
