Doc & Cat

I knew there was something not right with IRI narrative and world report. Something fishy was going on from beginning in China, Iran and global. Numbers of infected and dead were not proportionate and didn’t match, the story sound fabricated and international travel routs seemed not normal. Everything about this story was fake. It took IPC investigation to put things right. Now it makes sense. Shout out to IPC Operations inside Iran.

Dear Members

Mainstream Media, Governments, Business Entities and Personalities have to be politically correct, measured and biased towards their stands and benefits. We are far from politically correct, have no value in being measured and we have no benefits to protect. The only issue for us is to fight on behalf of the Iranian People and Opposition. We say it like it is, we investigate it fair and we openly give people the facts without sugar coating them. IPC is the clearest cut, no spin version of reality in the current events and Iran related events which you can get. The only angle we have is the freedom and democracy for the Iranian people.

We believe that words mean something and people should stand by their words. As Ahreeman said it time over time:

“What does the man worth, if his word means nothing? Man should deliver upon his word!”

We do stand by our word; we fight and die by our word. Man, or woman’s word is everything. One should stand by their word.

Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the most dishonest, conning, twisted and coverup regimes, if not the best in its slimy coverups and filthy lies.

The sooner the IRI dies, the world will be a better place.

Support our common struggle for freedom of Iran

Real Global Apocalypse Pandemic

It’s not a Hollywood movie anymore but it’s real and it’s killing people worldwide. Wake up people and get informed who is responsible creating and spreading this virus. Stand up for your rights to live. Don’t let them play with your livelihood.

World must realize that existence of IRI is hazardous for humanity. It’s not Iranian lives anymore but it’s human lives which are in danger now. For how long Europe wants to play footsy with Mullahs to keep the trades going? China and IRI, both not having value for human lives, created this global pandemic. China is covering up creating the virus and IRI is covering up both the number of infected and dead, and also its role in spreading the virus to the globe. The world must hold both responsible for crimes against humanity.

They say the virus in under control but it’s not. The virus is now entering USA, the last safe haven stand in the world. Everywhere and everyone is in danger. Mullahs played a dangerous and major role spreading the virus, will the world hold them responsible?

Europe is playing footsy with Mullahs, lets say for 41 years but now Mullahs are infecting Europe starting from Italy. That’s what they get to play footsy with Mullahs because Mullahs are like wild dogs, they bite.

Enjoy the Reality TV, the Real global Apocalypse Pandemic show! Make sure to stay alive in the process!

Ahreeman and Cat thank you for spreading the truth.
Ditto to IPC Operations inside Iran and outside Iran.

Iran's vice president contracts coronavirus as country's tally spikes again

FOX News
https://www.foxnews.com/

Iran’s vice president tested positive for the novel coronavirus days after the country’s health minister was also struck down by the illness that has killed 26 people in the region, marking the highest number of fatalities to occur outside of mainland China.

Iranian Vice President for Women and Family Affairs Masoumeh Ebtekar is now among the 254 cases reported in the country, which has seen a spike in illnesses over the last several days. Ebtekar, a spokeswoman for the 1979 hostage-takers who seized the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, is reportedly self-isolating at her home.

Information on the first coronavirus case in the country and exactly how many fatalities there have been is being met with worldwide skepticism after an early report citing a Qom lawmaker claimed that 50 people had already died.

The death rate among Iranians is much higher than elsewhere in the world, where over 83,000 cases have been reported across at least 47 countries. The country's efforts to contain the virus have also come under question.

Officials have gone so far as to ask people not to travel to Qom, and prayers in Tehran and other cities have been canceled. Cities have closed schools and Iranians are being urged to stay home if sick and to avoid shaking hands, but officials have stopped short of quarantining any regions or restricting travel.

“We have no plan to quarantine any district or any city,” Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said, according to BBC News. “If an individual has early symptoms, that person must be quarantined.”

Rouhani also took a swipe at the U.S. on Wednesday and said that it was trying to spread fear about the virus as several of Iran’s neighboring countries shut joint borders and banned flights over the outbreak.

“We must not let America to add a new virus to the coronavirus by halting our social activities by spreading tremendous fear,” he said, according to Reuters.

On Thursday, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the rapid spread in Iran, Italy and South Korea “demonstrate what this virus is capable of.”

“This virus is not influenza,” Tedros said. “With the right measures, it can be contained.”

Iran’s health ministry spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour said new labs were continuing to conduct tests and that the number of cases could be expected to spike in the coming days. Thursday’s tally represented a 100 case jump from the numbers reported on Wednesday.

Coronavirus: Iran has no plans to quarantine cities, Rouhani says

BBC
https://www.bbc.com/

Iran has no plans to quarantine any cities and towns despite the spread of the new coronavirus outbreak across the country, its president has said.

Hassan Rouhani told a cabinet meeting that health authorities would continue to "only quarantine individuals".

Image
Iranians have been asked to avoid non-essential travel to affected areas

Officials have asked people not to go to Qom, the centre of the outbreak, but have not shut a shrine in the city that attracts millions of Shia pilgrims.

Iran has reported 139 cases and 19 deaths in the past week.

The country has also been the source of dozens of cases in neighbouring countries, including Afghanistan, Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman and Pakistan.

There have been 80,000 reported cases of Covid-19 worldwide and 2,700 related deaths since the disease emerged late last year. All but 2,459 cases and 34 of the deaths have been reported in China.

A spokesman for Iran's health ministry announced on Wednesday that Covid-19 had now been detected throughout the country.

But he was optimistic about the situation in Qom province, saying: "Every 24 hours, at least 10% of those hospitalised or [who are] suspected cases are discharged."

Image

Mr Rouhani also told the cabinet meeting that he had received "promising" reports from the health ministry.

Covid-19 testing kits had been arriving from overseas through the World Health Organization (WHO) and there had been a decline in referrals to hospitals, he said.

The president urged Iranians to avoid non-essential travel to affected areas, but stressed that they need not worry about being locked down for a week or more.

Image
Teams are disinfecting public spaces in Qom, including the shrine of Hazrat Masumeh

"We have no plan to quarantine any district or any city. We only quarantine individuals. If an individual has early symptoms, that person must be quarantined."

Among those currently in isolation is the head of Iran's taskforce on Covid-19, Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi, who declared that "quarantines belong to the Stone Age" a day before admitting that he had tested positive for the disease.

The authorities in China and Italy have imposed strict quarantine restrictions on entire areas in an attempt to halt the spread of Covid-19.

Dr Bruce Aylward, head of the joint WHO-Chinese mission on Covid-19, said the extraordinary measures taken by China had "changed the course" of the outbreak in the country.
Other health experts have expressed concern about Iran's decision not to restrict access to the shrine of Hazrat Masumeh in Qom.

"House for cure means people would come here to get cured from mental and physical diseases," Ayatollah Mohammed Saeedi told Jamaran news website on Wednesday. "Therefore, it should be open, and people should be encouraged to come here."

The ayatollah nevertheless acknowledged that "caution is required" and that officials at the shrine would "follow hygienic issues".

Image
Precautions are being taken by some in Tehran

President Rouhani also assured Iranians that his government would be transparent about the scale of the outbreak, after the US said it was "deeply concerned by information indicating the Iranian regime may have suppressed vital details".

He accused Iran's arch-enemy of trying to use Covid-19 to instil "fear" in people.

"Coronavirus must not be turned into a weapon for our enemies to halt work and production in our country," he said, adding that Americans "are also suffering".

The Isna news agency later reported that the head of a new Iranian cyber police unit, Vahid Majid, had announced the arrest of 24 people suspected of being "rumour-mongers" regarding the outbreak.

The media watchdog Reporters Without Borders warned Iran: "Respect for the public's right to full, independent, diverse and quality news reporting, as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, is the best way to protect the population and combat rumours. Withholding information can kill."

Coronavirus: Iran's deputy health minister tests positive as outbreak worsens

BBC
https://www.bbc.com/

Iran's deputy health minister and an MP have both tested positive for the new coronavirus, as it struggles to contain an outbreak that has killed 15.

The country is one of three hot-spots outside China causing concern that the virus could be becoming a pandemic.

The deputy minister, Iraj Harirchi, on Monday denied covering up the scale of the outbreak. He appeared in physical discomfort as he spoke to reporters.

Iran has reported 95 cases, but the actual number is thought to be higher.

The director general of the World Health Organization (WHO) has said the sudden increase in cases in countries outside China is "deeply concerning".

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Tuesday that Washington was concerned that Iran may have concealed "vital details" about its outbreak and urged all nations to "tell the truth about the coronavirus".

More people have died in Iran from the virus than anywhere else outside China. The two countries have strong trading links.

The other countries currently in the spotlight are South Korea and Italy, where cases have surged in recent days.

Image
Iran's president has urged people to comply with the health ministry's directives

More than 80,000 cases of the Covid-19 respiratory disease have been reported worldwide since it emerged late last year. About 2,700 patients have died - the vast majority in China.

But the situation in Iran - home to holy sites that attract millions every year and in a region where several countries have weak health systems - has caused great concern about a potential mass outbreak in the Middle East.

Of the current hot-spots outside China, Iran is the most concerning because of the lack of an accurate picture of how widespread the outbreak really is, said Dr Nathalie MacDermott, an expert in infectious diseases at King's College London.

Most of the reported cases have been people who are elderly and dying, she said. "It seems like we're hearing about the tip of the iceberg and missing that chunk underneath who may be younger and may not be particularly unwell."

What's happening with the virus globally?

A hotel in Tenerife, in Spain's Canary Islands, is in lockdown after a doctor from Italy visiting the hotel tested positive for the virus

Italy - Europe's worst-affected country - confirmed the deaths of four more elderly people, bringing the total number of fatalities there to 11

The virus has spread to the regions of Tuscany, Sicily and Liguria but Italy's PM said his country remained safe for tourism

Several countries - Austria, Croatia, Switzerland, Algeria - reported their first cases, all involving people who had been to Italy

While Italy's European neighbours have agreed to keep borders open, some are screening arriving travelers

US health authorities warned Americans to brace for the coronavirus to spread and potentially cause severe disruption

In Iran, a conflict between religion and science
By Rana Rahimpour, BBC Persian

The reports that we are receiving from cities around Iran suggest that the number of cases is actually much higher than the Iranian authorities are giving.

Unlike in Italy, Iranian officials are refusing to impose quarantines in areas affected by the outbreak. They say quarantines are old-fashioned and that they do not believe in them.

The Shia shrines in the cities of Qom and Mashhad are still open, despite Qom being a hotbed of the virus.

There are grand ayatollahs in Qom who believe that its shrine, which attracts millions of pilgrims from around the world, and its important seminary, which hosts many foreign religious students, are the pride of the Shia world.

Shutting them down would be a huge step for the clerics and not one that they would be likely to take unless they come under international pressure.

We can see the clear conflict between religious conservatism and science.

Iran also lacks the medical equipment it needs to help contain the outbreak. It has run out of masks and does not have enough testing kits.

A number of medical workers have also been infected, so there is a worry that they will soon run out of doctors and nurses to attend to those with the disease.

The majority of Iranians are extremely worried.

What happened to the Iranian official?
"I had a fever as of last night and my preliminary test was positive around midnight," Mr Harirchi said in a video released on Tuesday.

"I've isolated myself in a place since... and now I am starting medication.

"We will definitely be victorious against this virus in the next few weeks," the minister added.

Mr Harirchi's positive test for Covid-19 was announced a day after he took part in a news conference, where he coughed occasionally and appeared to sweat heavily.

During the briefing, the minister denied a claim by a member of parliament for Qom - the centre of the outbreak - that the authorities were engaged in a cover-up.

Ahmad Amirabadi-Farahani alleged that Covid-19 had arrived in Qom three weeks ago and that 50 people had died in the city alone.

The death toll was rejected by Mr Harirchi, who vowed to resign if it could be proven that even half that number had died.

Mr Amirabadi-Farahani subsequently refused to retract his claim, saying he had sent a list of 40 people who had died to the minister and awaited his resignation.

The secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Ali Shamkhani, said on Tuesday that he had asked the prosecutor-general to "check the validity" of the MP's allegation.

Meanwhile, an MP from the Iranian capital Tehran, Mahmoud Sadeghi, said he had also tested positive for the virus

Could cases spread through the Middle East?

Iran is believed to have been the source of the first cases reported by neighbouring Afghanistan, Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait and Oman, which have now imposed restrictions on travel to and from the Islamic Republic.

However there are fears that the many Muslim Shia pilgrims and migrant workers who will have travelled between Iran and other parts of the region in recent weeks could have already spread the virus.

In countries like war-ravaged Afghanistan - which has so far reported just one case - health authorities will struggle to trace and test contacts of infected people, experts say.

Image
Precautions are being taken in the Iraqi holy city of Najaf

The WHO is sending medical supplies and additional testing kits to Iran and is also planning to send a technical team to the country.

The United Arab Emirates - a major international transit hub, and home to the airline Emirates - has suspended all passenger and cargo flights to Iran for a week "as a precautionary measure". The UAE has reported 13 cases, including an Iranian couple.

Bahrain's health ministry meanwhile raised its number of confirmed cases to 17. It said all of those infected had travelled from Iran via the UAE.

Iran hit hardest as oil price war, coronavirus cripples nation

FOX News
https://www.foxnews.com/

he one-two punch of coronavirus and an escalating oil price war that is roiling world markets is hurting one country more than any other: Iran.

Already dealing with a deadly outbreak, the Islamic Republic, heavily dependent on oil revenues, is in no position to deal with the lowest per-barrel prices seen in decades.

"$20 oil in 2020 is coming," tweeted Ali Khedery, a former U.S. official in Iran and onetime Middle East expert with Exxon. "Huge geopolitical implications. Timely stimulus for net consumers. Catastrophic for failed/failing petro-kleptocracies Iraq, Iran, etc. - may prove existential 1-2 punch when paired with COVID19."

Iran's oil exports, its main economic lifeline, have been under siege for quite some time. Experts say the escalation of the global price war between Saudi Arabia, the world's top exporter, and Russia could cripple many nations outside Saudi Arabia, with Iran topping the list.

Oil prices have plunged 30 percent, the largest one-time drop since the 1991 Gulf War. Now, with oil trading around $30 a barrel, many experts say the price isn't one Iran can survive on.

Saudi Arabia and Russia formed the so-called OPEC+ alliance in 2016 after oil prices plunged. Since then, the two countries have orchestrated supply cuts of 2.1 million barrels per day. The Saudis wanted even steeper cuts, but Russian President Vladimir Putin refused to play along, worrying that it would give American oil producers too much ground.

On Friday, Putin's energy minister, Alexander Novak, said beginning next month, countries could produce as much oil as they wanted. The Saudis, angered by Russia's refusal, said Sunday it would open its spigots and drive down prices.

"If a true price war ensues, there will be plenty of pain in the oil markets," Badr Jafar, president of Crescent Petroleum, a United Arab Emirates oil company, told The New York Times. "Many will be bracing for the economic and geopolitical shocks of a low-price environment."

In no place is that more clear than Iran, which has already been feeling the sting from American sanctions. Export earnings in Tehran have also been drastically slashed and experts warn that a further decline could stretch what little ability the country has left to pay for vital services and security.

"The fall in oil prices could actually have more of an effect on the country than Western sanctions had had over the past several years," says Justin Dargin, a Middle East energy expert from Oxford University.
Aside from the price plunge, Iran is also dealing with the coronavirus, which has morphed from a health crisis into an economic one.

On Sunday, Iran's health ministry reported 49 new deaths from the COVID-19 virus - the highest toll within 24 hours since the start of the outbreak in the country. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about one in every 12,000 Iranians have the virus. The country has the third-most cases behind China and South Korea, though experts fear the country is underreporting the extent of the outbreak in an attempt to hide a desperate situation for which its own leaders are partially responsible.

Tehran initially downplayed the outbreak because they were worried about low turnout in Feb. 11 parliamentary elections. The low turnout fear was bolstered by the Iranian military's accidental shootdown of a Ukrainian passenger jet in January.

In the end, authorities prioritized their political concerns over the risk of spreading the virus to its citizens. And the move backfired. Big time.

Now the news that a number of lawmakers have tested positive for the quickly-spreading virus - two have already died from it - has ripped away what little was left of the Iranian government's credibility. Officials like Gen. Hossein Salami, the commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps., recently went so far as to accuse the United States of unleashing the virus in Iran on purpose.

"Today, the country is engaged in a biological battle," Salami said. "We will prevail in the fight against this virus, which might be the product of an American biological (attack), which first spread in China and then to the rest of the world."

Washington Post Global Opinions writer Jason Rezaian believes many of Iran's current problems could have been avoided but adds that by downplaying the crisis, "Iranian officials have actually managed to aggravate the public panic they wanted to avoid - and have undermined their own legitimacy in the process.

"People are terrified, and they have no trust in the state's ability to manage the crisis. It's hard to blame them," he said.

Bloomberg Opinions columnist Bobby Ghosh believes that Iran has "long regarded reckless endangerment - of its own citizens as much as of neighboring nations - as a governing precept."

"Its reflective tendency to lie about crises, recently on display with the shooting down of a Ukrainian airliner, adds credence to reports that the first signs of the outbreak were evident on Feb. 13, six days before the government owned up," he said.

Iran's Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi downplayed reports of a government cover-up for days and even went on national television to joke about his own symptoms.

In addition to that horrific display, Iranian judiciary chief Ebrahim Raisi said Monday that authorities would be releasing 70,000 prisoners because of the coronavirus outbreak. Raisi did not give details on when or if prisoners, once deemed dangerous enough to lock up behind bars, would be required to return.

Coronavirus: Iran reports leap in death toll

BBC
https://www.bbc.com/

Image
Tehran province is the worst affected by the new coronavirus disease

Iran has reported 43 new deaths related to the coronavirus disease in the past 24 hours, as it struggles to combat one of the world's worst outbreaks.

At least 237 people have died and 7,161 have been infected across the country since mid-February, although the real figures are believed to be far higher.

The authorities have tried to limit the spread of Covid-19 by closing schools and urging people not to travel.

But no hotspots have been put under lockdown, like in China and Italy.

Cases linked to Iran have also been reported by Afghanistan, Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

What's the latest from Iran?

On Monday, health ministry spokesman Kianush Jahanpour announced for a second day in a row that more than 40 people with Covid-19 had died.

Visit Map:

https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/624/cpspr ... -3x-nc.png

Tehran province is the worst affected with 1,945 cases of the disease, followed by Qom with 712, Mazandaran with 633, Isfahan with 601, and Gilan with 524.

Mr. Jahanpour said the rate of new infections was dropping, but that it was "still too early to judge" when the outbreak would be brought under control.

Almost 2,400 people had so far recovered from the disease, he added.

Meanwhile, local media said the reformist politician Mohammad Reza and the high-ranking Shia Muslim cleric Ayatollah Reza Mohammadi Langeroudi were among the latest fatalities.

In a separate development, 16 Iranians died from methanol poisoning in Khuzestan province after false rumors spread that drinking alcohol would help prevent people getting the Covid-19 virus, the official IRNA news agency reported.

Meanwhile, Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has cancelled a speech he was expected to deliver to a large crowd in the holy city of Mashhad later this month for Nowruz, the Persian New Year.

Image
There is widespread fear and concern about the outbreak in Iran

Some people believe the Iranian authorities are understating the true extent of the outbreak, and members of parliament have publicly challenged their figures.

On Saturday, about 16,000 people suspected of having Covid-19 were being treated at hospitals in major cities, according to Mr. Jahanpour.

A representative of Health Minister Saeed Namaki was also quoted by local news agencies as saying that "around 200 people have died" from Covid-19 in Gilan alone. But the official later retracted his statement, saying the figure included those who had died from other diseases.

Virus hits highest levels of Iran's government

BBC
https://www.bbc.com/

Iranian officials have downplayed the severity of the outbreak, but about 30 or so have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus in less than three weeks.

They include Masoumeh Ebtekar, one of Iran's 11 vice-presidents, who reportedly attended a meeting with President Hassan Rouhani and a number of cabinet ministers shortly before it was confirmed that she was carrying the virus.

Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi, who led the government's Covid-19 task force, meanwhile tested positive a day after being filmed mopping sweat from his brow during a news conference.

The head of emergency medical services, Pirhossein Kolivand, and Esmail Najjar, who is responsible for the Interior Ministry's crisis management, have also been infected.

At least 24 members of Iran's parliament - about 10% - have tested positive for the virus and two have died as a result of it: Fatemeh Rahbar, a conservative who had recently been elected to represent Tehran, and Mohammad Ali Ramezani, who had been elected in Gilan.

Some Iranians have speculated that the reason that so many officials have the Covid-19 virus is because it was already circulating before the parliamentary election on 21 February and that the government suppressed information because it did want to reduce turnout - a key indicator of legitimacy.

Others have wondered whether it is simply because Iranian officials have better access to testing kits.

*

What's happening elsewhere in the region?

BBC
https://www.bbc.com/

Saudi Arabia announced that anyone failing to declare correct health-related information and travel details as they entered the country would be liable to a fine of up to $133,000 (£102,000).

Officials have said that some of the Saudi citizens with Covid-19 failed to disclose that they had travelled to Iran on their return to the kingdom.

Image
Passengers and crew of the Nile cruise ship A Sara are reportedly being quarantined

The Saudi authorities have also imposed a temporary lockdown on the predominantly Shia Muslim eastern region of Qatif, where most of the Covid-19 cases have been reported, and suspended flights from nine countries, including Italy, South Korea, the UAE and Egypt.

Egypt reported its first death linked to the disease on Sunday - a 60-year-old German tourist who tested positive after being admitted to a hospital in the Red Sea resort of Hurghada on Friday.

The tourist had previously visited in the southern city of Luxor, where 45 people suspected of having the Covid-19 virus were evacuated from a Nile cruise ship on Saturday and placed in isolation on land.

On Monday, a member of a French tour group, Philippe Gruwe, told AFP news agency that about 80 passengers and crew were being quarantined on board.

The tests were carried out after the World Health Organization informed Egypt that a Taiwanese-American tourist who had been on the ship was infected.

Iran official dead from coronavirus as global cases reach 100,000

NY Post
https://nypost.com/

Image
Iranian ambassador to Syria Hossein Sheikholeslam has died from the coronavirus.

The novel coronavirus has infected nearly 100,000 people worldwide — spreading to around 90 countries and even slipping past the walls of the Vatican.

The tiny city-state within Rome confirmed its first case Friday, but wouldn’t say who was infected.

The Vatican has insisted that Pope Francis — who canceled audiences last week over a “slight indisposition” — has only a cold. He has tested negative for the coronavirus.

Vatican officials said they are working with Italian authorities to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Italy as a whole remained the European epicenter of the illness, particularly in its northern regions. A total of 148 fatalities have been reported there.

Meanwhile, in Iran, 3,500 cases and at least 107 deaths have been reported — including senior politician Hossein Sheikholeslam, a diplomat and the country’s former ambassador to Syria, Business Insider reported.

Eight percent of the country’s parliament has tested positive for the deadly infection, CNN reported earlier this week.

In the UK, a woman in her 70s with underlying health conditions became the first person in the country to die of COVID-19, the BBC reported.

The woman, who had been “in and out of hospital for non-coronavirus reasons,” was admitted and tested positive for the infection Wednesday.

The total number of people infected in the country surged to 116 Friday — rising by more than 30 in 24 hours — but the prime minister’s official spokesman said it was “highly likely the virus is going to spread in a significant way,” according to the report.

The Netherlands and Cameroon each reported their first cases on Friday.

South Korea, the second-hardest-hit country, saw 505 additional cases reported Friday, a notable decline from a high of 851 Tuesday.

While the country has touted its “remarkable diagnostic and treatment abilities,” vice health minister Kim Gang-lip said, “It’s not easy to make predictions about how the situation … would play out.”

China, where the virus originated in December, reported 143 new cases Friday, the same as a day earlier — but a marked decline from earlier in the outbreak.

Only a month ago, China reported several thousand new cases a day, outnumbering infections in other countries about 120 to 1.

Officials report 1,076 fresh cases in past 24 hours, says 16,000 people suspected of having virus hospitalized; Zarif accuses US of ‘medical terrorism’ through sanctions

Image
Fatemeh Rahbar, 55, was a conservative MP

TEHRAN, Iran — An Iranian lawmaker died from the novel coronavirus on Saturday, state news agency IRNA reported, one of several officials to succumb to the illness in the epidemic-hit country.

Fatemeh Rahbar, 55, was a conservative MP and had recently been elected to the parliament from the capital Tehran, the agency said.

She is the second lawmaker killed by the virus in Iran and one of seven politicians and government officials who have died in the outbreak since the country reported its first cases in mid-February.

Rahbar was among the top candidates in Tehran for the conservatives, who overwhelmingly won February’s general election marked by the lowest turnout in the Islamic Republic’s history.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohamamd Javad Zarif later said American sanctions — reimposed from 2018, after Washington pulled out of a multilateral nuclear deal — were undermining Iran’s battle against the coronavirus.

US President Donald Trump “is maliciously tightening US’ illegal sanctions with the aim of draining Iran’s resources needed in the fight against #COVID-19 — while our citizens are dying from it” Zarif tweeted on Saturday.

“The world can no longer be silent as US #EconomicTerrorism is supplanted by its #MedicalTerrorism,” he said.

Iran has been scrambling to contain the rapid spread of the virus and on Saturday reported 21 new deaths and 1,076 fresh cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall tolls to 145 dead and 5,823 infected.

“More than 16,000 people are currently hospitalized as suspect cases,” health ministry spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour said in a televised news conference as he announced the tolls.

He added that 1,669 of confirmed cases have recovered from the illness.

Iran has closed schools and universities, suspended major cultural and sporting events and reduced working hours across the country to slow the contagion, which has spread to all of its 31 provinces.

A member of the inner circle of Iran's Supreme Leader died of the coronavirus, as the country records more deaths than anywhere outside China

Business Insider
https://www.businessinsider.com/

A close adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has died of the coronavirus, as the country continues to record a higher death toll than anywhere outside of China.

Mohammad Mirmohammadi, 71, died in hospital in Tehran on Monday, The Associated Press (AP) reported, citing Iranian state radio. Mirmohammadi had been a member of Khamenei's Expediency Council since 2017.

As of Monday morning, Iran had confirmed 978 infections and 54 deaths. China, which has reported more than 80,000 cases and 3,048 deaths, sent a delegation of experts to Iran to help fight the outbreak.

The situation in Iran is cause for concern, according to the AP, as more than half of the 1,150 cases confirmed across the Middle East can be traced back to the country.

There are also fears that the death toll and recorded infections are far higher than the official numbers.

The actual number of infected could be closer to 23,000, according to researchers at the University of Toronto and Dalla Lana School of Public Health.

On Friday, the BBC, citing sources in the country's health system, said the real number of deaths was at least 210.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on said last Tuesday he was "deeply concerned" that Iran "may have suppressed vital details about the outbreak."

"All nations, including Iran, should tell the truth about the coronavirus and cooperate with international aid organizations," Pompeo said.

Iran has also been criticized for its efforts to combat the outbreak.

Major Shiite shrines in two of the country's worst hit areas, Mashhad and Qom, have been kept open, despite calls for their closure.

"We have no plan to quarantine any district or any city. We only quarantine individuals," Iran's president Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday, according to BBC Monitoring. The situation worsened significantly since his comments.

The World Health Organization said last Monday that the situation in Iran is "deeply concerning."

A number of Iranian government officials have contracted this virus, though Mirmohammadi's death is the first amongst them.

On Tuesday, Iran's deputy health minister Iraj Harirchi revealed he had contacted the virus. The day before he was seen sweating and looking unwell at a press conference.

On Thursday, it was reported that one of Iran's vice presidents, Masoumeh Ebtekar, had contracted the virus. Ebtekar was in a meeting with Rouhani and the Iranian cabinet as recently as Wednesday.

As Business Insider's John Haltiwanger reported, Ebtekar is best known as the English-language spokesperson known to the media as "Mary" during the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis, when Iranian students stormed and occupied the US Embassy in Tehran.

On Friday, it was announced that Iran's first-ever ambassador to the Vatican, Hadi Khosroshahi, had died of coronavirus at the age of 81.

Khamenei Rejected Trump’s Offer of Help with Coronavirus

Postby CR » Sat Mar 21, 2020 3:22 pm

Khamenei Rejected Trump’s Offer of Help with Coronavirus
Trump Offered to Help Iran with Coronavirus Meds & Supplies

Despite IRI backed Shiite Militia in Iraq and Iraqi Hezbollah killing Us soldiers and bombing US bases, Trump had never included meds and medical supplies in the sanctions. Trump also offered Iran to help them with Coronavirus treatments, supplies and meds. Looks like Mullahs are too proud and hateful of America to accept help. They prefer Iranians to die than accept American help.

Iran Lobby has a campaign going on while screaming that US denies Iran meds due to sanction, but this is a lie and meds were never included in the sanctions. The US issue is not with the Iranian people but with the Iranian government.

In his last Coronavirus update, Trump clearly stated that meds are not included in sanctions. Another filthy lie by Iran Lobby is exposed.

Rush Limbaugh: Democrats ‘Salivating’ over Coronavirus as Opportunity to ‘Decapitate’ U.S. Economy

Breitbart News
https://www.breitbart.com/

Image

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh warned Americans Thursday during his broadcast of the Democrats’ attempt to use the crisis of the coronavirus as a means to “decapitate the U.S. capitalist economy”:

So, they’re seeing this as an opportunity to decapitate the United States capitalist economy. And they are salivating over it. For them it’s the crisis opportunity of a lifetime to push through their agenda. Despite this, despite the fact that the facts show that it is capitalism and farmers and frackers and truckers who are saving us. People in many industries the left impugns and laughs at and makes fun of, they make fun of farmers, they make fun of people in flyover country, they make fun of people who make their living in the dirt, they make fun of people who take showers after work, they impugn all kinds of people in manual labor jobs. We would be [not] able to survive this without them.

Limbaugh said it is capitalism that is saving the country today. The popular host observed, for example, that by reversing net neutrality, the U.S. saved Internet connectability for emergency periods such as the one the nation is experiencing:

And, by the way, thank God for getting rid of net neutrality, because if we hadn’t gotten rid of net neutrality and if there were all kinds of these left-wing regulations on the Internet, it wouldn’t be up and running as it is today. Go to the U.K., go to the European Union, you’ll find out that the Internet and broadband service over there has been greatly interrupted in all this. Because they have massive more regulation of the Internet than we do.

Limbaugh criticized the left-wing media for joining with Democrats in portraying the current rise in unemployment as a failure of the Trump administration.

He observed MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell asked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA):

“Do you think more needs to be done in the next stimulus package now that we’ve seen these appalling historic unemployment numbers?”

Pelosi responded:

Yes. Yes, indeed. And not only do I think so. You can just ask the Democratic and Republican governors. I’m very proud of my governor, Governor Gavin Newsom in California. In this bill we want to include some infrastructure that directly relates to the coronavirus crisis. For example, clean water. Clean water is a very important part of our infrastructure proposal. Community health centers. There’s funding for additional money for construction, rehabilitation, et cetera, of community health centers. Internet, broadband. Look at how we’re all dependent. And then the grid that makes so much of that possible as part of that.

“Yeah, the grid. The grid’s electricity,” Limbaugh reacted to the clip:

You people tried to shut it down with your Green New Deal. What do you mean? You’re the biggest hypocrite that’s come along during this crisis. Clean water, who the hell is opposed to it? What do you mean we need clean water initiatives in the infrastructure bill? Is there anybody out there in favor of dirty water? Who is opposed to this?

In the same segment, Limbaugh cited Fox Business Network’s Charles Payne, who said Wednesday to his guest, Vice President Mike Pence:

I think the fate of free market capitalism is on the line right now and that the administration and Big Business have got to show the American people that this is the best system. This, to me, is the moment of truth when capitalism is being tested, and it is your administration — you and President Trump — that have gotta prove that it is the best way to go about life.

Pence agreed, responding that farmers and small businesses are shining stars during the current crisis:

The fact that you’ve got farmers in the field working, you got grocery store clerks working the checkout counter? It’s keeping food on the table for every American. What you’re seeing is the American people are rising to the challenge. Our businesses across the country are rising to the challenge.

“I am so glad that he mentioned this to the vice president,” Limbaugh said. “He’s exactly right — and coming on the face of Gavin Newsom in California. The fate of free market capitalism is on the line right now, and we have shut it down.”
