| This
is a group Maktabi wedding between Tolab (Islamic Male Religious Study
Students) and Zeynab Sisters (Islamic Female Religious Study Students)
from "Baqer al Olum" University of Qom. This is a rare and a
typical "Maktabi Wedding" (Clerical Wedding) occasion. This
Maktabi Wedding was a huge ceremony where a great number of Tolab married
a great number of Zeynab Sisters. There was a Hojatol Eslam who read the
marriage verse for all. There were similar shared flower bouquets for
the group, traditional Muslim ceremonial wedding table and the whole shebang.
The complete ceremony was extremely simple, humble and down to earth.
Notice how everyone is buttoned up their shirts or clipped up their shirts
all the way up to their necks (very Maktabi). Everyone is well covered.
These folks are deeply religious people. Most of them are true believers
and fundamentalist modest Muslim students. After graduation, probably
the majority of them will not go into politics and they will continue
a humble life as a cleric or a teacher; however, those who will move into
politics, will be the next generation of the ruling elite of Mullarchy
in Iran. This is interesting because you can see how the other half lives!
For many, this is absolutely strange and totally new! It is good for you
to get out of your shells and see all walks of life. Have some Halaal
cake and enjoy the wedding! |
