It's called PERSIAN

Postby Liberator » Thu Jan 27, 2005 5:18 pm

Dear all,

Haven't read the article yet but would just like to point one thing out, and I know that our Dear Dr X does not think it's important but it's important to me since it does not require any effort!

We have all read tons of articles about Farsi vs Persian when talking about the language spoken by Iranians in english and I must say that it has pretty much been concluded that Persian is the correct term primarily due to the historical weight that it carries and because that is what has been used for hundreds of years! up until recently when the Iranian EXILE community started using the term "FARSI" when speaking in english. I don't know how many times I have debated this with people on other boards but all I'll do here is to advise you to: when referring to the language spoken by Iranians in english please use Persian and not Farsi which is our indigenous term. Farsi means nothing to a non-Iranian while Persian does (it has an immense cultural value to it!), don't destroy our culture/history more than what these mollah's have done. If I have time I will post some articles on that discussion but there really shouldn't be any discussion on it! and similarly there need not be a discussion on what is the true flag of Iran! ......

Take care.

Dear prologicam,

lol the photo is not a KKK clan member but an Iranian freedom fighter :machinegun: in the streets of Tehran defying the rule of the filthy mollah's. (It's part of my signature)

prologicam
1. You forget that many cultures, Iranians included, had no written language for some time, therefore their literature could not be written down and called literature.
2. You forget that Iran onced comprised Central Asia and much of Western Asia as recently as 200 years ago. Therefore those people have a common heritage with Iranians
3. If Farsi language is irrelevant then why can't a person who is ethnic Iranian run for government office in Iran without speaking fluent Farsi?

You forget that Persian is a greek corruption of Fars.

Peterkhanzendran,

engaar hichi nagoftam-aaa....

so german is english corruption of deutch and italian is english corruption of italiano, tyska is swedish corruption of deutch, and inglese is italian corruption for english or for that matter almani is persian corruption of deutch?!....ajab-aaa! [-X (please don't get confused)
Persian is what our language has been referred to for centuries and which carries a tremendous historical weight to it as well. It looks like I will have to post some articles after all...

Persian is what Farsi has been referred to for centuries by foreigners. Foreigners caused the problem. Remember Reza Shah had to correct Iran's name from being called Persia which the Qajars called Iran despite the fact that Iran has always been Iran.

Peter,

I think my last post should have answered all your questions.

You forget that the resistance can do the most good inside Iran if Iran is to be strong and free.

Pardon me folks:

Couple of things,

I. As of this time, a foreign born American Immigrant such as Arnold can run for anything except presidency of United States. That is why we are trying to change the constitution so Immigrants such as Arnold can run for presidency.

II. My issue had nothing to do with Farsi or Persian! My indifference was about Farsi & Parsi (both Iranian Terms for the language). I have no problem with other foreigners calling it (Persian).

III. I hate to agree on anything with Peter; however, I shall agree with Peter that Almost All Central Asia (Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan) and West Asia (Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan) are practically our flesh & blood. They were states of Iran for centuries and milleniums. If Russians & British would have not stolen them from us & created fabricated nations out of them & now grant them independence, they would still have been part of Iran. So in other words, despite the events of the last 200 years and unworthiness of Qajar Dynasty, I must admit I consider a Turkmen, an Irani & Citizen of the Persian Empire. A Turkmen has as much rights to be called Persian as an Esfahani does! And if we shall take over the government in Iran, we will bring back all our Ex States to the arms of Mother Persia including Turkmenistan. So as you see, no matter what things seems to be these days, Turkmens and all of our Ex States are our Persian Brothers & Sisters.

And yes, this means, in my heart, I consider Peter an Iranian. It does not matter what today's fabricated borders made by Russians & British separate us, but the history teaches us that a Turkmen (Turkmen Iranian or Turkmen Turkmenistani) is also an Iranian.

Well look @ Peter, in his heart and due to historical evidence, he considers himself Persian; furthermore, I believe he has every right to be considered Persian. Well only one condition! Only if Ferdowsi forgives him of screwing up the Persian Language, then we consider him Persian!

For God sakes, Iraqis (specifically Kurds) are even Persian, how can we not consider Turkmens as Persians? And unlike National Socialists (Iranian Nazis), I am not fixated on race! So all citizens of the Ex Persian Empire who have been states of Iran for millenniums, are considered Persian.

Please understand that, by the definition above, we are not including territories which have been colonialized by Persia for a few hundred years (eg: Egypt, Syria, and so on....).

Actually James is more Persian than many Lilly Ass, Fruit Roll Ups, Fag Ol Boys in Disco Tehran, Tehran-Geles! Now if I consider James, a Persian, then for sure, I consider Peter, a Persian!

Peter & I maybe disagree on many issues and I Frag a lot with Peter, but I can never Deny Peter of his Blood Right and Herritage to be Persian.

Iran, Pars, Fars, Persia, Aryana, ................ , we are all Persian.

Remember,

To be Persian, you do not have to be born in Iran, yet you have to feel the Persianhood in your heart and bones! If you can feel the Persianhood in your bone-marrow, then you are for sure Persian!

And there's your prayer

AX

You're one to talk about fragging language. Language must develop on it's own.
